Task #10

My web 2.0 knowledge is a lot better than I originally thought but I have also been introduced to resources that I had never heard about before, so that is very exciting. I would rate myself a 9.5 out of 10!

Betty Blogger Summer School has been a lot of fun and has helped me feel more comfortable with web 2.0. It has met my expectations in that I have learned and been exposed to a lot of really interesting and important applications. Library Lady exceeded my expectations in how much personality could be expressed online.

My biggest challenge was blogging about what I was doing. I would rush ahead a times and check out the assignments but had troubles going back and blogging about my experience. Summer is a heavy time for me at work etc so it was an extra thing to do after I had the fun of playing with whatever the new application was that I just been introduced to.

I found the self directed learning part to be very successful and fun.

I would recommend this to a friend and I am glad I was able to participate in it this summer.

Task #9

Library Thing
this is the link to my library
http://www.librarything.com/catalog/jamianne.fournier

I really like Library Thing and I think I will continue to use it. I already had an account previous to Betty Blogger but forgot about it and never used it so now that we have become re-acquainted I think it will be something I will enjoy using.

Task #8

RSS Feeds are a lot of fun and a great way to keep your email inbox tidy. A few years back I started with bloglines as my aggregator but changed over to Google Reader since I have gmail.
The two new RSS feeds I subscribed to are: Booklust and Geranium Cat's Bookshelf

I find Google Reader very easy to use and will continue to use it in the future.

Task #7

The dish I chose to bring to the picnic was a pot of chili and small cobs of corn with basil butter.

The PB works experience was good. It is fun and very easy to use but I don't think I will keep my own wiki at the moment. However I work two part-time jobs and both utitlize PB works so do I some wiki stuff there. I am comfortable with PB works so if I was to keep a wiki of my own that would be the root I would go.

Task #5 Photo Sharing

I have this thing with Black Swans....
the photo I found on Picasa was just gorgeous!

The tags associated with this photo are as follows:
Black Swan, Nature, Swan, www.leticiascamera.com

It was fun finding photos on Picasa such as Black Swans but I don't know how often I would use it. I have not got into the habit of uploading photos and the ones I do go on facebook. I did find the searching process to be a little annoying as its precision is quite dodgy. My experience on Picasa was just okay and I don't really have a purpose for it at the moment so I doubt it would be something I will visit often.

Task #4 Social Networks

Disclaimer: I am a horrid facebooker

My view of facebook has evolved over time. At first I could not see the point of it and never cared to join. However when I returned to school after my undergrad and all my classmates were facebooking each other I thought it might be a good idea to join. It was a real blast! Between caring for fluffy pets and filling out friendship quizzes as well as finding tons of old friends, it seemed that I had a very active facebook life.
Upon graduating my interest in facebook began to dwindle (apparently my procrastinating temperament seems to be subdued without the constant flood of due dates nipping at my heels).

Presently I find myself overwhelmed by all the pokes, growing flower requests and continual status updates. I do enjoy connecting with long lost friends and browsing my friends photos to see what they have been up to but I just cannot keep up with all the extra stuff. I will continue to use facebook beyond the Betty Blogger program but I can not see myself becoming a fabulous facebooker anytime soon.

I do have concerns with online bullying, online predators and stalkers, and the misuse of people's personal information but social networking sites are not the cause of these social ills; the social network forum is neither good nor bad it is how its used.

Task #3 Tagging

I think I have gone a little Diigo crazy! I just love Diigo and will most definitely continue using it in the future. I don't have a laptop as of yet so the idea of being able to sign in and find all my bookmarks on any computer is a wonderful thing!

Moving to a town of 1500 people two years ago would not have gone as smoothly without the miracle of online shopping...so the tag I have issued the most is "Shopping". However because the bulk of my sites consist of "shopping sites" the tags "Home" or "Fashion" or "Beauty" have been added along side the shopping tag.

My bookmarks are as follows:

Peach Berzerk =Tags: "Shopping" "Fashion"
Etsy =Tags: "Shopping" "Fashion" "Creative Living"
Neiman Marcus =Tags: "Fashion" "Shopping"
Epicurious =Tags: "Food" "Recipes"
Added Touch = Tags: "Shopping" "Home"

Fabsugar =Tags: "Fashion" "Beauty"
Creative for Life =Tags: "Creative Living" "Journaling"
Cullens ABC =Tags: "LIbrary Resource" "Children's Programming"

ZooZoom =Tags: "Beauty" "Shopping"

Wedding Bells = Tags: "Wedding"
Carolin's Stampin Up! Tags: "Stampin Up!" "Shopping" "Stamps"
Home Library Software Tags: "Home" "Shopping" "Books"

Most of my sites are "Public" but a few are "private". I belong to the Good Cook Book Club where I have to remember this obnoxiously long account number to login and order books. Since diigo I just click a link and in the title of the bookmark I have typed my account number....making things so much easier now!
